LINDSAY BENNETT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

One of the most meaningful moments each year is the presentation of the Lindsey Bennett Memorial Scholarship, awarded by Carsen Rowe (TRIBE 99 CEO) and her family. Lindsey was Carsen’s cousin, whose life was tragically taken by a drunk driver. This scholarship honors her legacy by supporting dancers who embody her spirit, kindness, and drive.

LINDSAY'S STORY:

The Lindsay Bennett Memorial is devoted to promoting responsibility by inspiring people to value their own lives and the lives of others, as well as the community in which they live. Lindsay was a former architectural student, UNLV Rebel Girl dancer, and inspiration to all those lucky enough to have met her. She died three days before her nineteenth birthday from fatal injuries sustained as the victim of a tragic head-on crash caused by a drunk driver. She was coming home that evening from a practice at UNLV.

Born and raised in Henderson, Nevada, she was educated at a young age about accountability and responsibility through her participation in church and school programs, organized youth sports and years of dance instruction. Lindsay found happiness in all things big and small including: banana pancakes for breakfast; kisses on the forehead; acquiring her drivers license; car rides with her brother Andrew; leading her high school dance team to their first national title; voting in her first presidential election; and securing a spot on a collegiate athletic team. An honors graduate from Coronado High School (class of 2008), she was looking forward to earning a degree in architectural design. Lindsay cherished the time she spent with family and friends, and believed in the importance of contributing to her community. This beautiful young woman was taken from us too soon, but her integrity and her love for life has inspired many.

TRIBE 99 has a very special connection to Lindsay Bennett and her family because Lindsay was Carsen's cousin. We are offering this scholarship in memory of Lindsay Bennett so her story, her passion for dance and her genuine love for life are remembered forever. Lindsay's favorite quote was "Follow Your Bliss." We are hoping that through this scholarship, a recipient can do just that!
